Simerjit Kaur Candidate Thanks All Supporters
Tuesday October 26, 2010 - Simerjit Kaur candidate for Ward 5, City of Mississauga, thanks her voters, volunteers, media, friends and family, for their tremendous support during the municipal election campaign.
“It was a wonderful experience that allowed me to engage in the political process, raise important issues and speak up on behalf of the constituents of Ward 5. I’m extremely proud and thankful for the hard work of my team and for all the overwhelming support I received from so many people,” said Kaur.
Kaur came in second out of 5 candidates including the incumbent in the Ward 5 race with 2678 votes-- almost 20 percent of the total vote.
“We worked very hard and we learned a lot,” said Kaur at her election night gathering in Malton. “I especially want to thank all the volunteers that put so much time and effort into the campaign. We have a fantastic team and I know we will continue to work together for many years to come.”
“It was an honour and a privilege to work for such a sincere, hardworking and dedicated candidate,” said campaign manager Manjinder Grewal. “I know she will go on to do great things.”

An accomplished real estate professional and entrepreneur, Simerjit Kaur is the co- owner of Sutton Group Liberty Realty Ltd, located in Ward 5, Mississauga.
Simerjit has lived in Mississauga with her husband and two children ages 7 and 16 for the past 13 years. An immigrant who came to Ontario from Punjab, India at the age of 18, Simerjit has become a successful entrepreneur and asset to the community by working hard and struggling to overcome challenges.

“Malton is one of the most challenged or high risk areas of the GTA. Gang presence has increased dramatically since 2003. Child poverty has increased since 2003. This is not acceptable. The current councilor (elected in 2003) has said many times she will work to fix the problems but things have only gotten worse. I will work with the mayor to get Malton the help it needs.”

August 28, 2010 – Simerjit Kaur, Candidate for Mississauga City Council, Ward 5 rolled up her sleeves and helped volunteers gather and pack donations for victims the Pakistan flood over the weekend.
“We all have a responsibility to help those in need and we have a very strong and successful South Asian community here in Ward 5 that can get together to make a difference,” said Kaur. “I commend the organizers of this event for pulling it together so quickly and working hard to get help to the people of Pakistan.” Kaur donated rice, lentils, juice and laundry soap to the cause and assisted the volunteers with unloading, sorting and packing boxes for shipping to Pakistan.
